Toyota of Escondido Action Sports Report January 2013

Michael Chandler Victory

Mike Chandler defeats Rick Hawn via Submission

It’s been a great month in Toyota of Escondido Action Sports! Our program is stronger than ever and features star athletes such as James Stewart, Dean Wilson, Damien Hobgood and Michael Chandler!

ASP Pro Surfer Damien Hobgood has been working hard in San Francisco, and if you follow him on Instagram you will see some amazing pictures! ASP Tour starts in just over a month!

Also training while waiting for action is Supercross superstar Dean Wilson, who will be riding the East Coast Lites this season for Pro Circuit!

The bit of bad news that came this month is that James “Bubba” Stewart has a torn ACL, however he is still racing the entire Supercross series. He had a crash at the Anaheim 2 event this past Saturday the 19th, which set him back in the point standings a little bit. James is a true competitor that will continue to push hard all season despite the severity of his injury.

“I’m not going to use it as an excuse.” James Stewart talking about his injury.

Also at Anaheim 2, Dillan Epstein rode in his first ever Supercross Main Event! After taking a tumble in the qualifying session, Dillan was still fast enough and healthy enough to compete in the heat races. Dillan rode hard in his heat race and finished in the top 9 to enter into the Supercross Lites Main Event. This was the first of what we hope to be many Main Events for Epstein!

Michael Chandler Jr. successfully defended his Bellator Lightweight Championship title against Judo Olympian Rick Hawn in Bellator 85, which was also the Season 8 Opener on Spike T.V. Chandler won via submission in the second round with a rear-naked-choke. Congratulations to him in retaining the title!
